This week, I learned some basic skills of editing and writing news story. Usually, as an intern, my job was just to go out with my mentors and do interviews. There aren't any huge chances for me to actually produce a news story. I was beyond joy when the editor-in-chief asked me, a rookie, to help him with his news story. At first, I was nervous about messing everything up. There were so many professional editing apps on the office computer and if I didn't do it right, it would be a disaster. It occurred to me that I was tasting the real flavor of the newsroom. In this case, I was no longer the student. I was a journalist. And my opinion matters. To me, I felt overloaded -- not only did I have to be on the filed, but also I had to make my production before the deadline everyday. In total, I went for four breaking news. |
Social Worker on Tunnel-Fixing
Empty Grocery Store
|
Water Pipeline Scandal
Ya'an earthquake survivors

From my perspective, I gained a lot of experience during this week. To me, broadcasting is about sending a powerful message to the audience. What I need to improve is how to create a better content that relates to people's livelihood and also my job is to make sure their voices are heard.
