"I was fortunate to grow up in a loving, Christian home. I grew up memorizing Bible verses, singing Sunday school songs about Zacchaeus and marching into an ark two-by-two, and knowing that I, a sinner, was loved by a merciful God. After a lot of soul-searching, prayer, and advice-seeking, I realized a Christian Psy.D. program was going to be the right path for me. When I finally was able to attend an interview at Wheaton, I knew immediately that this was where I was supposed to be. The strong community, emphasis on social justice and serving the undeserved, rigorous academics, consistently strong track record, and the people sold me. "Grad school will push all of your buttons: your self-worth button, your comparison button, your values buttons, even your faith button. We are challenged academically, professionally, emotionally, interpersonally, spiritually...and I’m sure I’m missing ten others." --Kalen Drake, Psy.D. '18. |
