University travels to China for TESOL studies and teacher training summer camp Huntington University's Institute for TESOL Studies will take 51 faculties, staffs and students to China on July 9, 2015 for a China initiative program. The group will travel to four different Chinese cities and facilitate seven programs. The China program first started in 2007, with 12 Americans traveling to Doumen district, Zhuhai city for teacher training and an English camp. With its rapid growth, hundreds of Chinese teachers and students will be involved in the programs this year. In Doumen district, the group will host a two-week English camp and teacher training for primary and middle school teachers. Meanwhile, in Zhuhai city, a two-week high school English camp will take place at Zhuhai No.1 high school. Furthermore, in Zhongshan and Jiangmen city, there will be a two-week English camp for pre-school, primary, and middle school students at China Hong Kong English School. As for teacher training, there will a three-week camp in Zhongshan city for area teachers and a one-week teacher training at Zhuhai No.1 high school. “I am looking forward to this summer's trip because I'll be able to visit with friends I met nine years ago,” said Charlie Chapman, trip coordinator. “Our time in Doumen has demonstrated that Huntington University's commitment to the China initiative is genuine and enduring.” The team will spend from two to five weeks in China, depending on the length of their programs and will return in August.
