In my internship/practicum site at Pui Tak center in Chinatown, Chicago, I’d love to establish a classroom culture in which students with very different needs and expectations can work together cooperatively and form a cohesive learning community. I understand it will be very different from teaching in higher education. I still want to know more about how do these immigrants learn English prior to come to the States as well as how long would they able to stick with this adult learning program. I also want these new immigrants to feel comfortable interacting among themselves and with their teacher. Although it takes time to achieve, I would like to challenge myself in building lessons around students’ difficulties and maintain active student involvement.
At INTR 611 class, I drafted my teaching philosophy to Dr. Alan Seaman. However, throughout my entire program, my core teaching philosophy hasn’t changed. Instead, I am more passionate about my teaching philosophy than ever before. They include,
