"On March 26, 2006, it was the first time I stepped into a church in China. Within 1300 square feet, about 200 people sat on folding stools. One minister preached the sermon and one pastor held the communion. Together, they did four altar calls after the service. I was very much moved, yet not sure that I should accept Jesus when I heard of his name the first time in my life. Just as I decided to wait for one more week before making my decision, the pastor said one sentence that changed my life. He said, 'For those of you who decided to follow Jesus, I want you know that you did not make this decision accidentally today, your whole life have prepared you for this very day.' After hearing this, I heard a voice shouting in my deep heart -- This is about you, Frank, this is about you -- and then I raised my hand to accept Jesus." "I was the last person who made that decision that day. Later on, I came to the States and met my advisor, Dr. Daniel I. Block, when he gave a special lecture in Talbot School of Theology, Biola University in 2012. He inspired me to apply for the PhD study at Wheaton. Ever since then, my whole life changed, from an ambitious and ruthless young lawyer, I became someone who wants to study the Word of God, to follow his guidance, and to share the gospel to my fellow Chinese." -- Franklin Wang, Ph.D., Old Testament |
