This spring, Dr. Nicholas Perrin, Dean of the Graduate School, traveled to Eastern Europe to identify possible avenues for globalizing the Wheaton education. Although the 1990s marked a profound expansion of the evangelical reach in that part of the world, a number of leaders within the church in that region are now expressing the need for a revitalization of post-baccalaureate Christian-based education. Dr. Perrin (second from left) is pictured here with one such leader, Dave Patty '93, the co-founder and current Director and President of Josiah Venuture (third from left), along with two Josiah Venture leaders, Peter Bozon (far left) and Pavel Schwarz (far right). Soon after graduating from Wheaton Graduate School with an M.A. in Educational Ministry ('00), Dave responded to God’s call to advance the gospel in the Czech Republic.Profoundly formed by the Wheaton Graduate School in his own life and thinking, Mr. Patty is convinced that the Graduate School stands poised to make an impact in places like Malenovice (Czech Republic), where Josiah Venture is based. Here at this spot, overlooking the beautiful Moravian-Silesian Beskids range, the four met to discuss how – after decades of the world coming to Wheaton – Wheaton might now come to “the world.” |
